Ultimately it is up to each Board to define the criteria that they feel is most appropriate to measure their effectiveness.

We work alongside the Board to stimulate thinking on how they can carry out their individual and collective roles and encourage them to focus on how they can continually improve their effectiveness.

We pull on research and guidance from organisations such as the Institute of Directors, Financial Reporting Council and the Charity Governance Code of Conduct and the areas that we explore together often include:

 
 
  • Strategy and strategic focus.

  • People and Culture.

  • Governance.

  • Ways of working together.

 

Typically, we do this through;

  • agreeing the questions which the Board are seeking to answer,

  • holding a series of 121 or small groups conversations,

  • sharing our findings and recommendations,

  • supporting Board members (individually and as a group) with their development.
